Careers in songwriting include:
· MUSIC ARRANGER: The Music Arranger scores songs submitted to them by
songwriters, publishers and various producers.
· JINGLE WRITER: A jingle writer can be a songwriter, composer or lyricist who
specializes in writing music for radio as well as television commercials. They are
responsible for portraying their client’s product, musically. They must be strong
arrangers, able to compose well and skilledin all techniques.
· COMPOSER: A composer generally creates instrumental pieces that can stand alone or combined with lyrics. They may also work as film composers that score music to enhance videos or films.
· LYRICIST: Lyricists are the individuals who can express themselves with words and can develop careers writing words to songs. A talented lyricist would only create the words and work as a team with a music composer.

Modern Musicianship I
Start building the solid musical foundation you need to work successfully in the music industry. Upon completion of this course the student will be reading and writing musical notation, recognizing rhythms, scales, intervals, key signatures and meter. Outline
Music Publishing
An in-depth examination of the processes of copyright law, publishing, and songwriting. Students will explore the different sources of income, types of royalties, and contractual agreements as it pertains to publishing. Outline
Modern Musicianship II
Continue building the solid musical foundation begun in Modern Musicianship I. After completing this course you will begin to write your own songs and learn from the popular music you listen to every day. Outline
Songwriting
This course brings together the many aspects of music and words that converge as one complete expression known as a song; to show how these musical qualities interact as they take on different structures and forms chosen by the songwriter. Outline
Music Arranging I
Master the skills and artistic power of arranging! You will develop deep listening, analytical, and transcriptional skills with emphasis on contemporary pop / rock tracks. Then, you'll create your own scores for keyboards, bass, guitar and drums. Outline
